July 26 Day 14

Bon jour,
Well we r almost in Ottawa at least we can see it. We left Montebello at 1;30 after waiting for 1.5 hours to get a $25.00 pump out. It was 44 mile to the base of the flight of 8 locks to the city of Ottawa. The trip was great weather was sunny lite breeze and calm waters. The houses along the river are big and beautiful no lack of money here. We arrived at the base of the locks at 5:30 to see the wall full of boats waiting to get up the flight. We pulled into a spot on the wall to find out that it is reserved for a tour boat. Out of all the boats on the wall no one offered to let us tie to them, nice people. One guy told us we could go back about a half mile and there is a spot to anchor. He also told us how nice it was to walk up to the market place and shop and look around, so nice of him.
We untied and got off the concrete wall with out the help of others as they watched us struggle, nice of them again, found the cove and dropped anchor, lot of rocks and logs stuck on the bottom. This will be r first night at anchor might jump in the river as it is hot. Tomorrow we will be at the lock doors at 8:oo am lock opens at 8:30 not sure if it is a drop opening or raise first but we will be there waiting. Hopefully they take the big boats first like the other Canadian locks so we will get up on the first locking. Hope to find a spot on the wall on top to look around Ottawa a little suppose to rain on Thursday. Forgot to tell u yesterday during the rough ride I went out to take are burgees in (flags for the landlubbers) Lin hit a wave it came over the bow and soaked me I thought I heard a little laughter from the bridge but she said I was hearing things. Well time for din din

Have a nice night
