July 20 Day 7

Got up and got headed to pick up r G2 card for r GPS. It was about a mile or so from the town dock. What a nice sports store had everything. We got the chip and headed back to the boat on the way we stopped at a grocery store for supplies. Tried the chip and got the boat ready to get underway thru the Chambly Canal, 10 miles narrow and 9 locks. as I got ready to start the boat found out the batteries did not have enough juice to start the engines. Tried the genny but had drained the batteries to much to start the genny. Down from the town docks was a marina so off I went to see what they had. I returned with a battery pack. Lin looked at me and said didn't I ask u if we should bring r's. I had replied at the time what good would that do us we don't need that. Well guess the Captain should listen to the First Mate think she is up for a promotion. Hooked the charger to the genny and away it went, ran the engines as I humbly took the battery pack back knowing I had better start to listen to Lin a LOT more. It was a beautiful day and a great trip thru the canal. It is narrow and goes thru the country side and small villages. There are 9 hand operated wooden locks and many swng bridges which r ready for u when u arrive. The last three locks before u drop to the Chambly Basin give u the feeling u are coming to the end of the earth. It is three locks in a row when u go out of one u are entering the next one. We spent the night at the Basin Marina . Walked around town and did some laundry on the boat. Today we will head to Sorel on the St Lawerance River about 35 miles from here. This morning my friend Tom Joy called to tell me a way to avoid killing the batteries in the future. He thought about it yesterday and must have dreamed about it all night as he called before 8am.
Thanks Tom.

Well time for us to get things ready for another day of r adventure.
Hope u enjoy traveling with us If not don't read anymore, only kidding we enjoy u following us.

Lin & Rich
