I was told by a teacher who is supposed to be on summer break that I had two day 11's Oh well when you ave a year who knows day one from two. Sorry for the mistake I am sure it will happen many more times before we get back.
Today we left de Bellivue and went thru a lock that raised us 1 foot in a half hours time. The Ottawa River which in places is as wide as places on Lake Champlain was windy and rough. We had 4 to six footers all day we had plans to stay at the Carillon lock wall but when we got there the wall was full of boats waiting to lock thru, so plans changed. We rafted along a 43' sea ray. We were told we would be the first to enter and that the 43 would raft along side us, we entered which raises u 37 feet. There we 12 other boats locking thru, the we were so close to the front I thought we would hit the stairs as we raised. Actually the front wall is a wall and the lock door is some 20 plus above the bottom hard to explain as u probably figured out. Anyways we made it ok and headed back to the rough river for another 3hours. The scenery was great and the houses were gorgeous and well kept. We fueled in Le Favier 607 liters at $1'07 per liter ouch a Little over $4.00 per gallon, bought on the Ontario side which has less tax. Went a few more mile and took dockage at the Montbello Marina has everything from swimming to horseback riding at little more than we needed especially getting here at 6:30 but did not have much of a choice $130.00
Oh well at least we can say we say the largest log cabin in North America oh did I mention for that cost u get free coffee in the morning(but no donuts). Tomorrow we will venture closer to Ottawa which is probably 50 miles or so. Today we covered 56 miles in 9 hours. Long rough day but beats everything else right now and we r enjoying it even during the rough and expensive days.
