July 21 Day 9

Lite rain this morning so we waited to leave Chambly. We shoved off for Sorel at 10:50 nice sunny start. There are beautiful home along the Richelieu river. It is a 47 mile ride to Sorel. The first 36 miles were great, Lin made a great lunch before we got to the lock St Ours. We got into the lock which has a floating dock u tie to as u are being lowered, while we were in the lock it started to get dark. We closed everything up and by the time we left the lock it started to rain. We kept going and the storm kept coming. We trudged along following r new Garmin g2 card. The farther we went the darker it got. Down it came harder and harder, then the lightening and more rain. We were real boaters and kept going had to there was nothing else to do. Every time we thought it was clearing it got worse. It was r first big storm and probably won't be r last. It started to clear as we reached the St Lawrence. We headed East to the marina and finally found it, communications is a problem I guess Lin & I should have paid more attention in class. Found the marina and the shies started to clear as we docked. We got in hooked up looked at each other rang the cocktail bell and said WE MADE IT SAFE AND SOUND knew we could do it. Really it was quite the thrill which we hope we don't have right away again. Nice marina and will head out to old Montreal tomorrow morning about 50 miles west of us a 5 hour trip for us.

Time to make din din and relax
