January 27th & 28th Days 199 & 200

Weather finally gave us a break and we headed out of Sea Hag Marina Steinhatchee River at 8am with Cedar Key as our destination. The Gulf was calm for awhile but then the rollers came in. They toss you around pretty good and you do a lot of steering to keep on course. The sun was shinning and I was even able to go topless. Dodging the crab traps was even harder with the glare of the sun off the water, but we missed them all. We pulled into Cedar Key at 3pm after 7 hours and 61.2 miles. We dropped anchor in the bay and the 4 of us dingied over to town. Only a few shops were left open as the economy took its toll. Came back the boats and barbecued up some steaks and veggies. Great day.
Today the 28th Lin and I Said our good byes to Dan and Donna who stayed there to meet Dan's Boss and friend Ed. We pulled out at 8am on a beautiful Morning. Gulf was pretty calm no white caps but the constant rolls and crab traps. The sun was shinning and we felt real bad for all you who have cold and snow as we sat in shirt sleeves. But were sure glad to finally get some nice Sunshine State weather, didn't even have to run the heat tonight. Going to be in the 70's this weekend. Well we got into Tarpon Springs City Marina at 4:30 after 8.5 hours and 76.4 miles. What a nice place, right now we think we hear a steel band outside somewhere. Our beam is 14.9 and we had to fit between two posts at 15. We are in bow first and have to get off the bow but we are here and looks like there is a lot to see here. Supposed to be a spring where the manatees are and it is only about a mile away. Well time to take a shower and head over to this Greek town known for good food and sponges.
